Do I need to keep Cal/OSHA injury and illness records for establishments that will exist for less than a year (i.e. a “short term” establishment)?
Answer
Yes, however separate Cal/OSHA 300 Logs for each “short term” establishment are not required.
One Cal/OSHA 300 Log may be kept that covers all
“short-term establishments” in:

the entire organization, or
-
individual company divisions or geographic regions.
Question
May I keep the records for all of my establishments at my headquarters location or at some other central location?
Answer
Yes, provided you can:

Transmit the required information about the case from the establishment where it occurred to the central location within seven (7) calendar days of receiving information that an injury or illness occurred, and
- if required by government representatives, employees, former
employees or employee representatives, produce and send the
records from the central location to the establishment within the time frames
required by Section 14300.35 and Section 14300.40.

Some employees work at several different locations or don’t work at any of my establishments. How do I record cases for these employees?
Answer
Link each employee with an establishment.
Record cases on the Cal/OSHA 300 Form that covers the employee’s establishment (or “short-term” establishment).
Question
How do I record a case when an employee from one establishment is injured or becomes ill while visiting or working at another
of my establishments?
Answer
Record the case on the Cal/OSHA 300 Log for the establishment at which the injury or illness occurred.
Question
How do I record a case when an employee is working away from any of my establishments and becomes ill or is injured?
Answer
Record the case on the Cal/OSHA 300 Log for the establishment at which the employee normally works.
